In the 24th year of the Guangxu reign (1898), it was excavated by Jin Xiaolong from Shuangxi Mountain in Fuyang and cultivated by Shao Zhiyan and Wu Enyuan in Hangzhou. According to the "Lan Hui Xiao Shi" (A Brief History of Orchids), in the second year of the Republic of China (1913), it was selected by Lu Changshou of Hangzhou and sold to Wu Enyuan for cultivation. By 1919, it bloomed again with ten flowers, each exhibiting impeccable form. The Jiangnan Orchid King personally bestowed upon it the name "Duan Mei" (Graceful Plum).
