Jiang Mei (Prunus mume 'Jiang Mei'), also known as Single-petaled Jiang Mei, is one of the oldest and most representative variety groups of plum blossoms. It is revered as the ancestor of all plum blossoms. With a cultivation history of over 3,000 years in China, Jiang Mei, as the type closest to the wild original species, serves as the foundational starting point for the long evolution and artificial breeding of plum flowers. It features single petals (typically 5-8 petals), predominantly white in color with occasional pink or light red hues, emitting a classic delicate fragrance and blooming relatively early.

Beyond its profound historical and cultural significance, Jiang Mei boasts strong disease resistance and wide adaptability. It shows high resilience against various common diseases, tolerates cold and poor soil, and is easy to cultivate, making it an ideal choice for home gardens, landscaping, and potted planting for both beginners and experienced horticulturists. Whether for ornamental appreciation or fruit production, Jiang Mei embodies the resilient and elegant spirit of plum blossoms that “bloom alone against the cold.”

Japanese Apricot Bonsai  do not have high requirements for potting soil, as long as it is fertile, loose, and breathable. Such potting soil will allow plum blossoms to grow and develop well. Another thing to pay attention to is the drainage of potting soil. If drainage is not smooth, it is necessary to add vermiculite, perlite, etc. to your potting soil to increase drainage.
NOTE:Ground-planted stock develops a thicker trunk through natural soil growth, whereas bonsai stock cultivated in containers features a more slender trunk profile to facilitate artistic shaping.
